Proboscis has a long history of publishing stretching back to its origins with COIL journal of the moving image. In addition to publishing printed books (such as Ghost Stories, Mapping Perception, An Atlas of Enquiry), we have developed our own downloadable DIFFUSION eBook format and publish an occasional series of online essays (Cultural Snapshots). Proboscis also publishes project reports which are available as PDFs to download or as printed and bound copies from the Proboscis Store.
The tactile pleasures afforded by print materials combine with the ever widening reach of internet technologies to suggest new forms of knowledge sharing and dissemination. A key component of Proboscis' work is the exploration and development of these possibilities – bridging the virtual and physical in compelling and innovative ways. Some of our efforts in this area can be seen in projects such as StoryCubes and the DIFFUSION eBook Generator.
